About the intercultural project Hațeg Country - Pădureni Land

The project "Cultural Connections for the Sustainable Development of the Thracian Land Micro-Region - Hateg Country" runs from April 2015 to August 2017 and is co-financed by the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Program.

In the context of the constant change of contemporary society, the diversification of occupations, the increase of free time and the interest of people for new experiences, we propose a participatory exercise of cultural, touristic and community development facilitated within the project "Cultural Connections for the Sustainable Development of the "Pădureni Land - Haţeg Country".

In collaboration with: KaosPilots Switzerland, Training Center for Creative Leaders, Social Entrepreneurs and Community Development Facilitators, based in Bern, Switzerland.
Intercultural Institute Timisoara, a non-governmental organization founded in 1992, with cultural, civic and scientific activity promoting the values and principles of the Council of Europe in the field of interculturality.

What we want:
Appreciating the extraordinary diversity of the cultural and natural heritage of the Microregion Forestry Land - Hateg Country, we conceived this project with the ideea of contributing to its better national and international visibility, the building of cohesive and active communities to ensure for future generations chances for a better life at home.

We propose innovative Swiss models and good practices in rural development by transferring knowledge and experiences in harnessing the potential of cultural and natural heritage for sustainable economic, cultural and social development.
In collaboration with the Local Action Group of the micro-region and with all those interested we aim to identify, analyze and promote the potential of the local cultural and natural heritage. We consider this legacy as a key factor for the future sustainable development of the micro-region.
To achieve this goal, we would like to find together answers to questions about keeping and promoting this remarkable patrimony.
If we want to build the future, to preserve what is special and unique, we must make the best choices and set common goals of broad interest. In this context, we propose the involvement of all stakeholders in creating the conditions for developing an appropriate strategic development framework and establishing an open and representative association for the Micro-Region, with the aim of cultural development and cultural tourism, which will place the Pădureni Land - Haţeg Country in the top of the tourist destinations in Romania.
The proposed approach is open to all people who are involved and / or want to be involved in the areas of value-enhancing the cultural and natural heritage of the region. We specifically invite representatives of local authorities, cultural homes, libraries, NGOs, local initiative groups, local entrepreneurs, artisans, craftsmen, hospitality services and other related services to be actively involved in defining and using these resources which contribute to the interest of local communities in developing and promoting sustainable tourism in the micro-region.
